I have recently finished reading Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling. In my book Harry Potter has found out he was a wizard. So Harry leaves his mean Aunt and Uncle to go to school at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. He soon finds out that he is a hero in the magical world for killing Lord Voldemorte. When Harry goes to Hogwarts he is extremly happy. Harry is extremly curious and thinks he knows about a magical stone that keeps people alive. He soon meets Ron and Hermione and together they accomplish remarkable feats. Harry,Hermione, and classmate Neville get into trouble one night. As a punishment they had to go in the woods and they spot a horrible beast drinking a unicorn's blood. Harry panicks and thinks it could have to do with the sorcerer's stone. So he goes through a huge maze to find it and has to defeat Lord Voldemorte to get the stone before he does. He does and he eventually has to leave Hagwarts when the school year is over.
I think it is very good because it is original and a great mix of action and fantasy. I think her motivation for righting it was because she was a single mother that was struggling. So I think she did it mostly for her daughter. She also started writing the book in the spur of the moment. She started writing the book on a napkin in a cafe`.The main theme by far is fantasy. I believe that the main idea of the book is that anything can happen. Harry Potter I think is the best charactor in this book because he is very brave and outgoing. He has gained a ton of confidence through out the book and has had close friends for the first time in his life. A good quote in the book is when the watchmen Filch says "Well, well, well we ar in trouble." I thinks this is important because it basically starts the rising action in the book. My only question about the book is do you have to catch the snitch to win a quidditch game.
