I am reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I am just over half-way finished with the book. Since I last posted a lot is happened, the book goes back in time before Catherine died when Heathcliff was in love with her. Catherine gets transformed into a lady and marries Edgar, a guy she met while staying at Thruscross Grange after receiving an injury, Heathcliff still in love with her inacts revenge by eloping with Edgars sister Isabella. He is very abusive and evil towards her to get revenge on Edgar. Several years later Heathcliff sneaks in to see Catherine, and Edgar finds out so he makes her choose one of them. She locks herself in her room and says she is going to die, she later gives birth to her and Edgars child named Catherine and dies shortly after. Isabella gives birth to her and Heathcliffs son Linton. The book then goes on to tell about Catherine and Linton, as well as Harreton a cousin of Catherine.
I definetly like this book a lot better than before, even though there's so many characters its hard to keep them straight. I like it because it keeps you entertained with so much happening...it never gets boring. The author wrote this because she wanted to show that people can be good and evil at the same time. Heathcliff was once abused by his landlord Mr. Linton and everyone else at Wuthering Heights and was deeply in love with Catherine so he seemed innocent. Until Catherine married Edgar, then he turned evil by abusing Isabella and even injuring Mr. Linton. So someone who was once innocent turned evil. What I just said could also be the theme of the book, as well as Heathcliffs love for Catherine.
Still the best character to me is Heathcliff because he does evil things, but you still feel bad for him. He is viewed as both a hero and a villian. "It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff now; so he shall never know how I love him; and that, not because he’s handsome, Nelly, but because he’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same, and [Edgar’s] is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire." This is an important quote becuase Catherine wanted to be with Heathcliff more than Edgar, but she chose him because he could give her a more luxurious life.
I don't have very many questions, just what will happen to Heathcliff now that Catherine is dead?

3. A Girl Like Moi
I have now finished A Girl Like Moi, by Lisa Barham. Last time I left off, Imogene got the internship with a fashion magazine called Hautelaw, and Brooke was up to something suspicious. So for a while everything is going well in Imogene's life. Her only problem is she really needs her cell phone back. (Note: I forgot to tell you that the boy she met at the Soho House is Paulo.) When Imogene's career finally gets going, something major happens. First of all, Hautelaw doesn't get invited to the Jock Lord fashion show, which is a major coverage point for their magazine. This of course stirs up all kinds of trouble. The main problem is someone leaked insider photos of Hautelaw's upcoming trends to the major competitor of Hautlaw, Winter Tan. Brooke shows Imogene the photos that have been leaked only to realize that the photos were ones off of Imogene's cell phone. Imogene assumes that Paulo (the guy that has her phone) is the one to blame. Spring fires Imogene and she is devastated. Imogene just lost the job of her dreams, and is willing to do anything to get it back. Later that week, she gets a job at Evie's dad's restaurant as a waitress. Coincidentally, Imogene's first customers are Paulo's two sisters who happen to be waiting for Paulo's arrival. (Note: Paulo's father is a major fashion designer in Italy.) When Paulo arrives, Imogene blames him for ruining her career and she dumps a bowl of noodles on his head. She runs out the restaurant, later to find out that Paulo ran after her. What Imogene doesn't know is that Paulo has been trying to return her cell phone and he is in love with her. Okay, so long story short, Imogene sneaks into the Jock Lord fashion show, discovers a way to get backstage and take pictures of all the clothing. She gives her photos to Hautelaw, who rehires her. Spring did not rehire because of the photos though, she rehired because she found out that Brooke had leaked the insider photos. So, Imogene's career is back on track and her name gets put in Hautelaw's fashion book with all the latest trends. She is now an editor of the designs. Even some of her own designs got into "The Book". That same day, Imogene goes to the sample sale at Barney's (biggest sale of the year). As she is shopping around, she finds lots of things. She is about to check out when she sets all her stuff down accept some books for her parents and pair of shoes for her friend. Imogene has finally realized that she doesn't need all this to become successful. She has entered a new chapter in her life. Later that night, she gets invited to Paulo's father's fashion show. She attends (front row) and is in awe at all of the gorgeous gowns. When the wedding apparel came out. Stitched onto the three wedding dresses her "Heart Imogene". Imogene is welcomed to the stage, where she kisses Paulo. Imogene lives happily ever after.
I absolutely loved this book. It showed Imogene overcoming so many problems. I believe that the author wrote this book to teach us about being determined and learning to trust people. Also about learning the true meaning of life and not always treasuring material things. Maybe this was her motivation because she went through similar life changes and wanted to teach other about it. 3. Around the World in Eighty Days
I have just finished Around the World in Eighty Days, by Jules Verne. When we last met the crew they were on a train heading to Omaha. On the way though they attacked by some Indians and it caused a massive fight. Only few were wounded, but Passepartout and two others were taken as prisoners. So Phileas Fogg and some volunteers go out to rescue them. As they are in search for the prisoners the train restarts and leaves without them. This makes it so they won't be able to make it back to London in time. Then this man has a home-made vehicle that can travel across the plains and in a straight line to Omaha where they may meet the train going to New York. When they made it to New York they had just missed the train by thirty minutes. So then Mr. Fogg finds a freight who is accepting them to travel to England, but not to Liverpool. On the trip then Mr. Fogg takes control of the ship and heads towards his destination instead. When they reach English territory Detective Fix arrests Phileas. Then while sitting in his jail cell Fix tells him he can go because the real thief was already arrested while they were traveling around the world. When they reached London they were five minutes late. This puts Mr. Fogg into a a deep depression. Then as Passepartout is looking for a priest to marry Aouda and Phileas he realizes that they had gained a day because they had traveled around the world. He then won the bet and the prize money and married Aouda.
I didn't much care for the book until the last ten chapters or so, but it just really started to pick-up. My favorite part is when they realized that they had actually made it all the way around the world in seventy-nine days, but were at home the whole day before they realized it. I think the reason that Jules Verne wrote this book is to so how being calm and patient can always have benefits. Like how Phileas was always calm and he was side tracked a lot, but instead of making rash decisions that could have jeopardize his mission. A theme in this book could be the advancement of travel technology. Like how they have come from a horse and buggies to trains and steam boats. This actually made it possible for people to do around the world trip without having to many deaths.
My favorite character in the book is Phileas Fogg because he is always so calm and patient. He has never blown up about anything that has caused him problems. He also never blames others for his mistakes. To me it doesn't seem like their are any good quotes throughout the book because it i mostly simple talking and a narrator.

3.) Atlantis Found
I am reading a book called Atlantis Found by Clive Cussler. Right now I am on Chapter 45 out of 51.
Since my last post this book has gotten better. Dirk Pitt and Al Giodirno, who both work for the NUMA, were told to go home by their boss. Even though they were the ones that were most familiar with the Wolf's plans, they were told that the government would handle it. Even though Pitt and Giordino were told to go strait to Washington D.C., they still took a plane to Antarctica to assist in helping stop the Ross Ice Shelf from being broken. They got a Snow Cruiser which is basically a huge machine that can plow through snow, metal, and almost anything else. Meanwhile, the U.S. Special Force Teams were on their way to Antarctica to stop the Wolfs and save the world. The Special Force team was losing really badly to the Wolf's security gaurds, and were extremely relieved when a huge Snow Cruiser came running through. The Snow Cruiser, which was driven by Pitt and Giordino, flipped the "war". The Snow Cruiser broke into the control room and destroyed the clock that was going to tell the machines to break the ice shelf. Pitt and Giordino saved the world from a terrible apocalypse.
I like this book now because it is exciting and has a lot going on. It keeps you on the edge of your seat most of the time. It isn't my favorite book, but I would recomend it to people. I think that Clive Cussler wrote this because it is a good story to talk and write about, and also a good and fun thing to expand on. Also it could have just been something he was interested in, or another good adventure for his character Dirk Pitt.
I htink that the theme of this book is that anything is possible. Anything could happen and you just don't know it can or has until you see it. Also that nomatter what the consequences, you shoul do what is right and never to let anybody down.
I think that the best characte is Dirk Pitt because nomatter what he looks out for everybody. He's always there when somebody needs help or a hand. Also, he is just a caring person. You have seen diffferent sides to him because he can get sarcastic and very upset when people make him mad. Most of the time he trys to be funny and lighten the mood.
I think that an important quote is made by Major Cleary. He was the head of the Special Force Team that attacked the Wolf's compound. He said, " I can't believe a couple of oceangraphic people from NUMA, untrained to fight hostiles, could do so much damage." I think that this is important because this gives an example that anything is possible. Even if the odds are against you, it never hurts to try and do something that is right. You never know what could happen until you try.
I am almost done witht this book and my only questions have to do with what happens at the end. Do the Wolfs get away? What happened to Pat O'Connel? And lastly, do Pitt and Giordino get awards or some kind of recegnition?

2. The Hobbit
I am still reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. To recape what has happened the dwarves and hobbit have set out on a quest to reclaim their lost treasure that has fallen into the hands of the dragon Smog. Along the way they have incountered goblins, elves, Gollum, giant spiders, and the Lakemen. Right now I am at the part where they have reached the mountain and have used the information gathered from the map to find the hidden keyhole.
I think it is a good book. It is very creative and I love all the characters. I still think the author wrote it probably just because that is what he enjoyed doing. I think this because it seems like he really got into the story. He wrote multiple books which would take dedication and he would have to care about it some to stick with it and continue the story throughout the other books.
I think that one of the themes is that even the smallest, least likely person can be courageous and become a hero. Bilbo is a definent example of this. He's a hobbit so he shouldn't even be on an adventure, but he finds himself on one and has to save the dwarves multiple times. Another theme the book brings up is how wealth and power can corrupt a person. This is most clearly shown through Gollum and the Ring. It has physically run him down and mentally driven him crazy to do things that any normal person would find insane.
There are a lot of characters I like in this book. Gandalf is one of them because he's mysterious. You don't know all that much about him and he somehow manages to pop-up when he is most needed. He seems like a very interesting person with a lot of intellect. I think that Thorin has changed throughout the book. At first he really thinks a lot of himself and wouldn't have ever decided to take a hobbit with them. Now he is grateful to the hobbit and he's leared to show more respect.
I wonder what lead the author to want to write a book like this. How did he come up with it all and did he base characters off real people he knew or just come up with them? I can't wait to finish the book!

gone with the wind
Margaret Michell
I am half way through the book and is very interesting Scarlett is a interesting charecter and she is
in love with a man called Ashley Wilkes. Witch then she hears that Ashley is engaged to his own cousin
from Atlanta. Then while they where at a cook out she expresses her feelings for him telling him how she
loves him and wants to be with him. Then ashley shuts her down and says I am not marring you and he was
sorry but Melanie was similar and he likes that about her and there getting married. All of a sudden as
Ashley was leaving Scarlett slaped her in the face and Ashley kept on walking.
Then the civil war starts and Charles Hamilition is a dull timid man. Out of no where he proposes to
Scarlett. She in a wink of an eye says yes to marrying him. But she did not marry Charles out of love or
even because she liked him, she did to make Ashley jealous. So they get married right before Charles goes
to the army. Charles goes off to the army and sadly dies of measles. But all of a sudden Scarlett is pregnant
and gives birth to a boy, named Wade. She becomes bored and unhappy with her life and becomes sad.
This is about all I have read so far but cant wait to read more. I dont get why they named the Ashley it
sounds like a girls name to me. And that is about the only question I have so far.

2. Around the World in Eighty Days
I am reading the book Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. Right now I am on page about 150 of 210.
When we met the characters last they were on a elephant on their way to Calcutta. When their reached Calcutta they met a new member to their group named Aouda, an Indian women refused to be in an arranged marriage, so Phileas Fogg saved her. Then they headed to Bombay and Passepartout, Mr. Fogg's servant, got into some trouble with some priests. They had to pay a bail so then they could head to Hong Kong.. In Hong Kong the detective following them around drugged Passepart so he couldn't tell Mr. Fogg that the ship to Yokohama. So then they miss the ship and somehow Passepartout makes it on the ship and is on his way. Then Mr. Fogg finds a boat captain to take him to Shanghai where he can catch the ship going to Yokohama and then the States. Then in Yokohama Phileas and Aouda finds Passepartout working as a clown. Then they get back on the ship together as a group and head off on a long journey to the United States. Where I have left off they were all boarding the train from San Fransisco to New York City. All the while the detective is trying to ruin their voyage so he may have time for warrant to come so he may arrest them.
To me this book is just okay, but it has its ups and downs. I don't think that the stories pace will pick up really unless something major happens and causes a last minute arrival of the clan in London. A reason I think the author chose to write this book to show how many different cultures there are in the world and how different they really are. Like how some places their is pretty much only one type of people like in India, but in Japan their were all types of people from all parts of the world.A theme to this book could be traveling and the technology of the late 1800's. An example of the technology is they all had to go by either train or ship unlike taking an airplane in today's world. Today there are jets that travel around the world in just hours. Then they were making bets on if you could make it around the world in eighty days.
My favorite character is still Phileas Fogg. He is always calm and cool. Even when things are at their worst he never reacts badly or in anger. Everyday of the trip though he seems to get a little bit more excited because he is right on time for his calculations. To me it doesn't seem like that their is any really good quotes in this book it is mainly just normal talk or a narrator. My only aggravating question is are they going to make it in time. It took them fifty-two days to go half way around the world and now only have 28 days to do the rest.
